Scholarship

Reading Community Singers supports the advancement of music education by providing a scholarship to a student pursuing a career in music.

  • The one-time award is for $1,000.
  • The application process is open to any graduating high school senior or full time undergraduate college student pursuing a major or minor in music.
  • Applicants must reside in Reading, MA or a town in the surrounding area.
  • The scholarship winner is expected to perform at RCS’s concert on May TBD, 2027. The concert begins at 7:30 and the scholarship performance is at the midpoint.
  • By accepting the RCS scholarship, the recipient consents to have his/her name and likeness used for promotion purposes.

Applications for the 2027 Reading Community Singers scholarship will be open in October 2026. Please check back for more information.

Process

  1. Application submissions and letters of reference will be accepted between October 2026 and January 2027.
  2. Applications will be reviewed by the RCS Scholarship Committee in February 2027.
  3. Finalists will be notified in February 2027.
  4. Finalists will perform a 10-15 minute audition in March 2027.
    • Submit in advance a copy of the work(s) you will perform.
    • Provide your own accompanist or recorded accompaniment, including the music player and speakers needed for a recorded accompaniment. (A piano will be available.)
  5. Scholarship recipient will be notified in March 2027.
  6. Scholarship will be awarded to recipient at RCS Spring 2027 Concert in May 2027.
